Threesixty Issue 80

Recieved Threesixty in the post, glad to see i got a few images and a bit of text in there... After pretty shocking autumn as far a bodyboarding waves go, i did'nt have much content to send in.
Still it seems an amusing mission with Ollie Medland out into the wilds turned out, just about worth while...

Around the next corner...

No one likes crowds, apart from perhaps if you own the beach car park...
Apparently this day totalled 150 people at Bantham and Challaborough, making it kinda funny i couldn't find anyone to take a picture of ? South Devon leftovers...

ollie-openerThe beauty of Drift is that everyone knows someone who knows someone who does something cool. I love it when I get one of those “You should check out…” emails, because it invariably leads to a few moments of eye-candy-fed escapism, and I feel it’s my duty to pass on the goodness.

Most recently, thanks to the superbly monikered illustrator/designer Diggy Smerdon, I’ve been introduced to the work of Ollie Howe. I’ll let Ollie do the talking…

Ben Howard

I met up with musician/surfer Ben Howard for the first time last week to try and get some shots needed for an article on him. Despite the forecast 8ft 12 sec wave period we were greeted by 3ft of slop, not ideal but better than nothing. Ben's a rad guy and made the most of the few waves we managed to find.
He dropped me a copy of his EP These Waters which i thinks pretty darn good. My music taste isn't much to go by, but having secured a sponsorship with Quiksilver and the title track on Kelly Slater's new movie Cloud Nine he must have something good going on...

Bon Voyage Gus

Angus William Mcdiarmid rolled into our shire last year and seemed to like it so stayed...Living and loving based in Modbury, there was never a dull moment inbetween his trips to Peru, Chile, Morocco and cycling through most of Europe. Gus is one of a kind and won't be forgotten in a hurry. A true classic! All the best back on the Goldieee maaaat!!!

Giving a little back

This was a great day for both kids with disabilities and local surfers happy to share there own abilities with them. Lifesworks, Surfable, Discovery Surf School and all the other volunteers did a wonderful job making this day possible. Despite the lack of sunshine the smiles were beaming...
