With everyone back from the mountains and summer here, wednesday night skates up at C.P. are back on... only problem the place is soaked from the foot of rain that fell through the day... British summers... Love 'em! these are from last year
I was stoked to see the hardback book on legendary surf lensmen LeRoy Grannis, while round at my a friends. I know Rog is pretty out there and very arty, but was pretty shocked to see he'd got a marker pen out and drawn all over this expensive limited edition classic... but after a good flick through, i decided what he'd done was actually really rad... There's no chance i'm going town with a felt tip on my book collection, but here's some of his book individuality.... what do ya reckon?
This is my new little blog... http://thelobsterlounge.blogspot.com/ it will hopefully be a collective of photos of waves/tubes but not your run of the mill ocean going ones... More along the lines of ones that appear in other places like in your plate of tortilla chips, under a hedge or on the corner of a piece of paper... you catch my drift If you've got any cool photos of the above send 'em in and be a part of it... Cheers Ollie
While i'm on the snow tangent... what a winter (after doing the last two seasons it was'nt my best decision not to have done this one) it was an epic. From late October onwards the reports from europe and the world over, came in thick and fast.... record sub zero temps, record dumps, lift stations openning weeks early and the lucky few getting upto there necks in the white stuff. After some fun riding down in Seirra Nevada over christmas i was'nt content. The answer? jump in the truck and head for the alps.
I've been wandering round my local beach looking like a prat, picking up pebbles for a while now (making something in the garden). Theres always a bit of trash laying about, specially when there's been swell, you can deal it, its one of those things seeing seeing old plastic bottles, bits of fishing net, old plastics bags washed above the tide line. I pick some up and chuck it in the car park bin, no biggy... whats pissed me off lately is now the local caravan park has openned, the amount of trash on the beach is a joke. Not some old flotsam and jetsam but crap thats has yet to touch the sea its just been left were the scumbags have been sitting, you can see the fat ass prints in the sand and next to them empty lager cans, plastic bags, crisp/chocolate rappers and anything else they cant be bothered to carry the 50 yards to the bin with... Anyways thats my rant over, heres a cool little clip that gets the point across way better than my bitching
At long i last got upto Newton Abbot to check out the new addition to the Decoy BMX complex, a concrete bowl. Possibly thanks to the fame and talent of local hero Kye Forte, the Newton Abbot bmx scene is really impressive. Made me wish i could do more than just peddle one... anyways enough of the bmx stuff, i skate and went there to skate the bowl and it was awesome...
