tide and time

If it wasn't for tides, things would be a lot different, and it would definitely be for the worse, but they sure can test your patience when they move up to 6metres in six hours. Specially when you want your inconsistent little slab of rock to be exactly 3 feet under the water. Much lower, it makes torture devices in Saw IV look tame and much higher you might as well be riding a boat.

A few hours before these photos were taken on various days, i find myself frostily rushing through work, driving like a man possessed - getting cranky with anyone driving anywhere near a sensible speed, parking where getting a ticket is highly likely, running out of breath up a mile of steep coast path and sliding dangerously down the other side.... all so i can find myself two hours to early staring a dry slab of rock with friends that have just done the same. Yet no matter how much i consult the tide table I'm sure it will go exactly the same next time

Ronery

Not mocking Atreyu's new song cuz i think its amazing and a welcome return to sounding like some of there old stuff, but... i can't help but think vocalists Alex Varkatzas and Brandon Saller sound a helleva lot like Kim Jong-il during the chorus?

Single find

you never fully appreciate things till there gone... i just had five evenings in a row, same spot, same board... knowing last night would be the end of it, i stayed in ever increasing sized swell in ever decreasing visibility, trading super fun walls with a friend, the place reels pretty perfectly and i didn't once consider a leash. That was until due to thick fog, low light and predominately my lack of ability i went down, came up with about 5 foot of visibility and no board in sight. During the long swim in expecting never see it again (being in a river mouth on a dropping spring tide) i started thinking about the little single fin that had been going so well this past week, and why it had sat in my garage unridden for most of the winter replaced by another board. By now i'm already worrying how quickly i can get a new one shaped or if i can even remember the dimensions. 20 minutes of crap bodysurfing attempts later i was so elated to see something in amongst the rocks knocking from side to side. i'm now way more appreciative of the little single fin and promised not to leave it in the garage for so long again

Strung Out

Strung Out returned to Plymouth for the second time, and for the second time they didn't disappoint. They banged out an insane set at the White Rabbit.
I got into these guys back when i heard them in school on Fat Wreck Chord compilation Cd's. 15 years on there still belting out amazing albums and live performances
